As a braincancer surviver I have taken part in many charity rides. Last year I read about the first edition of the TumbleUp4Life and thought “that is for me”. I replied and became the first UK entrant to register, although I wasn’t sure if I was going to be well enough to ride up until a few days before the event.

I am so glad I did, because it was a very important day in my life and the best cycling event I have ever taken part in, I was humbled by my fellow participants, so passionate about fundraising for cancer research. It was a very tough but rewarding challenge, realising that I was not able to make the maximum number of 15 climbs in 1 day by about 4 pm I set my goal as to ride 100 miles ( only the second time I have ever done a century ride) I was honoured to be alongside the participants who completed the challenge of 15 climbs and also to be with the people of all ages who climbed the Iron Mountain to their personal maximum.

I will be there for the second edition, hope you join me for an amazing ride on May 5th 2012.

Dear participants of TumbleUp4Life,

isn’t it beautiful that you are going to bike the famous Wales mountain The Tumble for 15 times? Is it possible should be the question? No of course not. But you are going to do it anyhow. Why should you think? Is it fun? No of course not. It hurts, it’s boring, it makes you feel sick, angry, scary and so on. But one thing remains the force that drives you: Your motivation to do something for other people. TumbleUp4Life is not about biking. It’s about caring for others. About love for the patient and her loved ones. It’s about the people we lost and of whom we are thinking when we bike the mountain. Feeling the presence of your loved one when you bike takes away the pain and fear. It fulfills you with beautiful thoughts and good feelings.

Biking the Tumble will convert your powerlessness in the fight against cancer. It will turn the fight into a victory. It will give you the power to make the difference. And when you feel the power you will see that the impossible becomes possible. Don’t think in terms of realistic. Living in the Unrealistic world in which we dream and make our dreams come through is much more beautiful.

If the world isn’t beautiful make it beautiful. And that’s what you are going to do. Thank you for being part of such a beautiful group.

MyProjects update

We have used MyProjects from Cancer Research UK this year to set up the fundraising pages for our participants in 2011. We intend to use it again in 2012. Today all users received an update from MyProjects:

We are very happy to announce that the second edition of the TumbleUp4Life will take place on May 5th 2012. In 2011 the participants raised almost £ 10,000,= in aid of Cancer Research UK. For the second edition in 2012 we are hoping for at least 100 participants and £ 25,000. Join us !
